Staring July 25th, Fox Searchlight will be attaching a new, darker ending to 28 Days Later, after the credits, in theatres all around the country. I wasn't going to go see this, and maybe I'll still wait for the DVD, but this sounds like a cool move for any major studio to make. Will this encourage anyone to go see the movie for the first time, or again? And should other studios follow suit?

Well if I can make it into this movie successfully (unlike Bad Boys II  ) I'll definitely look at this as encouragement to watch 28 Days Later for the first time.

It's a really good movie that deserves a better ending than it got. Maybe this will get a few more people to see is for their first (or second) time.

This movie came out in the UK a while ago, and is already on DVD there. If any Brits have the DVD, let us know if the alternate ending is on there, and what's different from the theatrical ending.

I think the word "alternate" gets thrown around alot when it comes to movies, dvds, and endings. For one example i can think of is Scream 3. They say alternate ending, but it might just be a different cut, or have a new angle, or even a few more seconds. When they say alterenate ending, it should be a completly differemt ending!

I'm not from the UK, but having read reviews of the UK dvd, there is an alternate ending.

You can read about alternate endings and deleted scenes from IMDB. All of these are available on the DVD.

Im confused why a studio saying they're going to change the ending, will make people want to see it for the first time if they wern't planning on to.

Im not sure if I'll see it again. I think it's a one-time goer. But i'll think about it. Im not sure it's worth seeing twice in the theatre just to see if the ending is better. Although it was a good movie, so don't get me wrong.

Yeah, and the way they bragged about the "alternate ending" on the Bourne Identity DVD. ugh.

Just to clarify, the studio isn't changing the ending, they are showing another ending after the end credits.

For those dissing alternate endings on DVDs, I agree, they're a load of crap, BUT the Joyride DVD, wooooow, like over an hour worth of totally different endings, it's cool.

Well, They's alternate ending was certainly better.

So, has anyone seen this alternate ending yet? Is it really after the credits and not changed in the film?

Unless it's an ending that connects to the previous ending, that will be kinda boring. But I guess it's better than nothing, considering quite a few people have raved about the movie, and said it was all good except the ending could of used more work.

I wasn't crazy about the other ending, but I wouldn't necessarily say it wasn't a bad alternate ending.
If you really want to know what happens:
After escaping in the car, they take the guy (sorry, I'm forgetting names) to a hospital and try, unsuccessfully, to save his life. Then the girls walk out of the hospital and continue on, like when the others die. It ends on a down note, which most audiences don't seem to like, so I can see why they went with the one they did.

I actually liked the original ending, moreso than the alternate one, anyway. I wouldn't pay to see the movie again just to see the ending, but I get in for free, so it doesn't matter ;).
