Now compare that to your obsession with Alicia Silverstone and that's like comparing an average Joe to a stalker. Well.....the obsessed and crazy fan: dreams of meeting the celeb so that they will see what a great guy thet are-fall in love with them-and marry them, they ask for a specific pair of panties they wore, they beg strangers to tell them the whereabouts of the celeb, they go to internet websites and profusely and loudly profes their deep allconsuming love for a person they have never actually met or talked to......does any of this sound familiar.

I've joked with you before in your other thread about this, but the joking is over. You need to talk to someone...your parents, a brother or sister....if you feel you can't talk to them, go to your family doctor, he can help.....if you are religious in any way, talk to your preacher, priest, rabbi, whatever.....I am not joking, you need help.

Who doesn't want to be friends/co-workers with celebrities?All of us wouldn't mind that.celebrities have all sorts of friends /fans,some are celbreties themselves.but put yourself in the shoes of a celeb.crazed teenagers clammering to see you,people that think you suck,crazed psychopathiac stalkers,and those jackasses,the paparazzi.So understand why celebs are upset by crap like this,and maybe you'll think twice about being obsessive.

(And on a personal note,i believe that celebrities have the right to kil or severly beat obsesses stalkers or anyone of the paparazzi. :D)

Speaking for myself, I have no desire to be some Hollywood sycophant. I live in Dallas, and on occasion I see Owen and Luke Wilson, Janine Turner, Angie Harmon, Mark Cuban, and various Dallas Cowboy's around town. The only one I ever talked to was Cuban, and that was because someone introduced us. In fact, the only celebrity I've ever approached uninvited was Jerry Seinfeld. And that was like fifteen years ago after seeing one of his comedy shows. At that point he didn't really even qualify as a celebrity, and I just shook his hand and told him it was a great show, and congratulated him on his upcoming series. (Who would have ever suspected?)

I'm not trying to be all high-and-mighty about this subject, but I just think the privacy of these people should be respected. They're just doing a job, you know? And it has to be weird to have everyone stare at you simply because of the work you do. I understand that if you go to TriBeca and ask around Robert DeNiro's neighborhood about him, that the locals there are very protective. They'll tell you to mind your own business and let the guy have his privacy. They have the right attitude.

Here is a story that may(or may not) interest you. This summer I went to the Roy Rogers Festival in Portsmouth Ohio (Roy's hometown)....it's a celebration of the western, with memorilbilia and a couple of celebs. William Smith was the featured guest. You may remember him from Conan the Barbarian, Red Dawn, or Any Which Way You Can. Everyone wanted to see him, he was very friendy and nice, and everyone was talking to him. Another guest actor was Cliff Emmich. Cliff is one of those guys you look at and say....I've seen him, but don't know from where. He is a portly fellow who has guested on hundreds of TV shows and movies...little parts in everything. He wasn't too busy. My father (who is 69 years old) had come up to the festival to see Smith (he remembered old series he was in like Laredo or Hawaii 5-0). He knew Cliff's face was familiar, and went over to talk to him for a minute. It turns out they were in the Air Force Stationed in England together in the late 50's....they spent the rest of the day reminising and having a grand old time.

If you don't at least start a conversation with someone, you'll never know if you really have anything to talk about.

That's not what I'm talking about though. Those people were there to meet fans, not out minding their own business. I've talked to tons of comics professionals at comic conventions, but that's what they're there for. To meet their fans. I'm specifically talking about bothering people when they are minding their own business, and in particular, obsessing about them and inundating them with letters. I'm sure they enjoy getting fan mail. I know I would if I were famous. But then again I would find it a little creepy if I continued to get letters from the same person who seemed to fantasize that there was some sort of connection between us.

I am not obsessive at all actually...I do think what you say is smart and I agree that stalkers suck and are metally ill not just a person like me who knows he adores a celeb and does write fan letters lke every other normal person, but stops there.

Okay, I'm not an authority on the subject, but I'm 39 years old and I have a few psychology courses under my belt. So let me say this; You may not need help right now, but you have the roots of an obsession which left unchecked, could turn into something very unhealthy. I'll repeat what I said before: Try to find a girl your own age that you actually know, and be obsessed with her. Trust me, this thing with Alicia, it's not going anywhere. You cannot realistically be in love with this woman. You don't know her, and she couldn't pick you out of a line-up. (Not yet, anyway.)

However, seriously, there is nothing wrong with obsessive behavior, to a point. If Jeff is for real (that's a big if), then what he really needs to do is step back and bide his time. Ya back to what you said...it's smart makes sense and I am not going to follow alicia around...yes a huge love for her has been put in me and I don't know the reason...I doubt I will marry her/be her friend at all, but I think she is the reason that I may make my life worth while and that is a positive thing.(example I wanted to be in scooby too with her so I am getting my pics taken so I can be in the movies)

That's exactly my point, Jeff. Most stalkers don't think of themselves as stalking anyone. They genuinely believe that if they just meet this person, then said celebrity would understand how great they are, etc. There's a whole fantasy connection between them and the celebrity built up in their minds.
