recently I've been assembling my pre-WWII Jazz collection. I recently bought SIX box sets(10 discs a piece) from this german company, and they were only about 26 dollars a piece. I bought a Louis Armstong set, and a Duke Ellington set, and a Bennie Goodman, and Count Bassie, and Ella Fitzgerald, and a Billie Holliday set. They look like this, and as you can see, can be bought on amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00003L2E4/qid=1061698121/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-0883992-7242430?v=glance&s=music

the track listing on amazon is wrong, it actually has 186 songs in that Billie Holliday set!
I bought all six sets, SIXTY cds worth, for 180 dollars. Thats not bad considering that outside of Bob Dylan, this is some of the most worthy and brilliant art done in the name of music in the 20th century!

I just picked up Big Sugar - Hit and Run. It's their greatest hits package with 3 new songs. If anyone out there is a fan of great blues based rock, pick this up. They are a canadian band who doesn't get alot of exposure anywhere else (that I know of). I highly reccomend this disc if you like Blues/Rock. Great CD. Has anyone else heard of Big Sugar?
I also picked up Blink 182's new album, and I love it. It's really alot more mature than any of their last albums, and they've strayed away from the pop/punk sound (which is great IMO). I know alot of you are probably going to blast me for liking Blink 182, but give it a chance. It's a great album. Robert Smith from the Cure does lead vocals on one of the songs. Great album.

Motley Crue's Generation Swine CD, which has more modern-sounding, experimental tunes than classic Crue, including "Shout At The Devil '97", which is quite possibly their best piece of music ever. Awesome stuff. AWESOME, I say!
And hey, Kris, Blink 182's got some good sh**. Dude Ranch is one of my all-time favorite albums. Okay, it's not top five or anything, probably not even top ten, but it's up there. A lot of people like to bash Blink just because they got popular, and as we all know, if it's popular it can't possibly be good (note the sarcasm in my voice there). That kind of thinking is just as narrow-minded and dumb as people who buy sh** just because it is popular, but oh well. I digress.

I just bought Permission To Land by The Darkness.
This band is so cool! If anyone hasn't heard of 'em, they're a total throwback to those great 70's bands, including a shreiking lead singer, a guitarist who can bust out some of the coolest solos I've heard in a while, a bassit who rocks, and a great drummer. I highly reccommend this album. Great stuff.

Not you man, the other guy, PBC_er I was refering to as an idiot. Blasting a band for no reason other than it being his opinion and not giving reasons why made him an idiot.
EvilDeadNDN
05-28-2004, 01:25 PM
lol yeah I know who you were talking about and I agree with ya about him having no reason etc etc.
I was just saying that even if someone isnt a fan of a band, seeing them live may actually make ya dig em more.

Its freakin amazing dude.
I think it actually blows figure number five outta the water.
when I first got Natural Born Chaos I had it in my CD a week or two straight and listened to it over and over everyday.
Its a VERY strong album through and through. if you liked figure number five, youre going to **** yourself when you hear NBC. I know Im praising it an awful lot but I believe it to be one of their strongest albums.
I highly recommend man.
