Superman - An Unknown Actor
Lois Lane - Catherine Zeta Jones
Lex Luther - Billy Zane

Jor-El's Wife - Rene Russo
Johnathan Kent - Hugh Jackman
Martha Kent - i don't know
Young Clark Kent - should be the same actor who plays Superman only with makeup to look more younger

Hehe, I think I just started a Courtney Cox for Lois Lane trend here ;)

i always that Courtney Cox could be Lois Lane, but i think were just saying that because she looks like the Lois Lane from Richard Donner's film. I always thought she wasn't that perfect to be SUPERMAN's lover.

This may sound screwed up, but I think George Eads - who plays Nick Stokes on CSI - looks like Alex Ross's version of Superman. He's got the jaw and the build. He just needs that curl of hair on the forehead.
Alexander JL
07-10-2003, 02:16 AM
Could ya post a pic?
Which brings up a good point: What does everyone think about Superman's curl? Is it an essential part of him? I remember Dean Cain in L&C skimped on the curl...

LISTEN TO ME!!!!!!!! OK? I know what I'm talking about, for Superman, the unknown Matthew Bomer would be perfect as Superman, he'll be cheap to pay for, which will help the budget for the movie instead of hiring a superstar, and either way, people are going to go see the movie because its Superman!!! Look at that god awful Spider-man movie, people went to see that crap with that unknown crappy actor Tobey Maguire and for some reason it was a huge hit jsut because it was Spider-man. Courtney Cox would make a good Lois Lane, cause Cox still looks good, and is the hottest from all the "Friends". Lex Luthor should be played by Billy Zane, he has the looks and voice of a villain like Luthor. That's it, ok? Whatever I say is right, admit it, i'm a genius for coming up with this casting right? you can all bow down before me now. DC rules, Marvel is turning gay, look at Stan Lee now, Stripperella? HAHAHHA there goes your beloved Stan Lee for coming up with that ingenious cartoon, and Marvel coming out with a comic with Princess Diana as a superhero? Geez, Marvel has lost it, theyre going down the tubes.

With that one post we'll all bow down before you.
Like that will happen.Sorry.
Newbies....LOL.
Oh, and you did not come up with those casting choices.Matthew Bomer was in talks to play Superman since about maybe April or even March, 2003.Billy Zane and Courtney Cox were favorites on here long before you came.Just letting you know.So when you come up with your own choices , then I'll call you a genius.Until then you're a newb.

I know Warner's wants a known actor for Supes if possible, because that would be a sure-fire way to get people into the theater. But I can't think of a single big name that is suitable, so they will most certainly have to go with an unknown, or face a disaster. As for the other characters, there are probably a lot of actresses that would make a decent Lois Lane, as the only real criteria are to be spunky and have black hair. And for Lex, I would have to go with Bruce Willis.

Eric Bana was boring in HULK no way would he be a superman, and the death of superman thing is that warner brothers thought it was going to cost to much money i guess so they decided to scrap the idea from what i've been reading. CAGE was gonna play superman at the time this was like 3 to 4 years ago

IMO, Tom Cruise has the look and the voice (sorta like Reeve's voice), but he's just too well known...

Will Smith for Superman?
say what?
hey, looks like Will is angling to play the man of steel-- he figures since so many guys have passed on it, maybe this is his chance to do his longtime superhero fantasy....
.... Will thinks he can bring some real "flava" to the role, as Superman's traditionally looked at as kind of stodgy..
"You know, if Arnold (Schwarzenegger) can run for governor of California and peeple don't blink, I figure, I've got just as good a chance to play Superman."
now that sounds neat....

well for startes i would stick with tom welling of smallville and at least wait till smallville ends...i just dont think it would be proper to just make a movie while smallville is on...that would confuse a lot of people who loves smallville and r fans of the show. If they cant get tom welling willing to sign for the superman movie they should try to cast dean cain since i think he did a good job of doing clark kent/superrman in L&C.
Lois Lane-Selma Hayek agree with badasshd. i also think that if tptb at WB can make a great casting choice in Christian Bale as Batman why not superman? i just cant see henry cavill as supes..wishful thinking. as for lex luthor i dont really know..unless they have the brain n decency to wait till smallville is over cast michael rosenberg

If henry were older, he would be a great choice...he'd have to beef up a bit though. Selma would be a good choice as Lois but the problem is they are going to cast Lois around the age of the person they cast for Superman. If they cast Matthew Bomer (the best canidate so far), they can't cast Selma because they look too far apart in age.

M.Night...no way. I'm sure he could do a "serious" movie as opposed to a thriller, but Superman really isn't supposed to have any "thriller" elements to it. It would be...interesting...to see him do it. I'd pick anyone over McG at this point.

Superman-V has word on what exactly is going on with the McG/Peters Superman movie. Word from an uber-reliable source is that "they are still budgeting and JJ Abrams is doing a rewrite".
This source also said that this rewrite could be the one that will officially greenlight the film. One wonders how long the budgeting process takes on a movie like Superman.
S-V has come across a list of 5 actors who may be on the shortlist to play The Man of Steel. The source above commented on the situation: "As far as I know there is no one specifically yet that they've had discussions with about the lead". Despite this, it is never too early to be thinking about casting, you can bet the farm that names are being thrown around. McG even talked about 3 names that he had in mind for the lead, I doubt he kept them to himself. Here are the actors we've heard:
Matthew Bomer
Henry Cavill
Brenden Frasier
George Lucus
Josh Lucas - Never
Scott Speedman - the guy from Underworld, also never.
Most likely it would go the Matthew Bomer, and unknown and the right age. Even his name looks memorable

10-07-2003, 11:00 AM
does anyone think Matthew Bomer will get the Title. I think they should still search for someone. Tom Welling would be perfect, but he is doing the show. I think people like me prefer tom welling because he playes Clark Kent for 2 straight seasons so we recognize him as the future Superman in the Show.
OzzMosiz
10-07-2003, 12:45 PM
I still think slightly older than Bomer. Yes Welling would be perfect, he's probably contracted into the show and can't get
out even if he wanted too. I'm surprised though, from a MONEY point of view he could make more than the 5,6,7 seasons of Smallville he'll likely to make

well i don't think they would pick him for the movie, because from what i hear he is considered too young. what maybe they should do is wait a few years more, and just make a superman movie that ties into the tv series.

Dogbert0228

This comes from www.superman-V.com, 10/16/03
DO WE HAVE A SUPERMAN?
Henry Cavill
The young British actor Henry Cavill will be the fifth live-action Superman?! That's what the makers of the new Superman movie seem to want. You extremely cool fanboys (and girls) who've been hanging around S-V since the start will know of him. From here and more recently amongst the five names buzzing around the Warner lot.
Anyhow, please don't take this as gospel until WB issue a press release saying he has the role. Saying Cavill will be Superman for definite, you're just asking to be hung, drawn and quartered if it doesn't happen. Out of those five actors, Henry Cavill is the frontrunner. He is who McG and co. want in the lead. Things move fast in Hollywood, tomorrow they might find someone else they think is better. Today, at this moment in time, it's Henry Cavill.
For Superman, there's no Christian Bale. Most of the polls that go around seem to be split almost 50/50 between Matthew Bomer and Henry Cavill. Sometimes Bomer swings it, more recently it's been Cavill. With Cavill as Superman it may go someway to pleasing the fan community and winning some support for McG and Jon Peters (yes, crazy as it seems, he's apparently part of the "Cavill for Superman" brigade at WB).
Henry's age has been an issue with some fans, at the age of 20 he would be the youngest Superman yet. Although a problem for some this would fit with the planned trilogy of films, showing Superman's growth from the very beginning. The first film ill deal with his origin and moving to a young Superman in Metropolis, still very new to his powers and abilities. The main reason for alot of support for Henry is to do with his acting abilities. He is quite highly regarded as an actor, in a similar way Tobey Maguire was before Spiderman, and has received acclaim for his role in The Count Of Monte Christo opposite other Superman fanboy favourites Guy Pearce and James Caviezel. Previous reports suggested that between Bomer and Cavill the WB always thought Cavill as the better actor.

Rumour is building that Henry Cavill will be offered Superman if the McG/Peters/Abrams Superman goes forward. Does he want it though? In a post on a fansite Cavill spoke briefly about Superman.
" I am going on a callback audition for Superman today (they're remaking the original movies) fear is i may be too young though.....which is so often the case =( "
I think if offered we won't have a Harnett-like decision. The post dates from February this year and since then both Henry and his agents have been tight lipped about his involvement with Superman. When asked for information recently his agents confirmed they have had meetings but wouldn't say when. Cavill is obviously thought of highly at the WB as he was in the running for Batman and is believed to be considered for the Harry Potter films as Cederic Diggory.
Problem is, I can't say I'm confident that McG's Superman movie will be made. It's in the hands of WB now, it's up to them to greenlight the film and back Cavill.

It's meant to be.
George Reeves
Christopher Reeves
and now we have another Reeves in this world, Keanu Reeves. He would do a great job as Superman

What's next get remixed Jim Reeves music into their soundtrack.
Welcome To Our World and all that.
I've already mentioned this and I think I now stand by my choice in believing that Vince Vaughn should be Superman.
Anybody with me????

It's not Christopher Reeves...
There is no "S" on the end of his name, It's "REEVE".

E-Online reports that Henry Cavill is McG's choice for the part of Superman. I didn't think they were aiming so young for the part.

Yep far too young. They are doing exactly like I feared they would - they are youthing it up too much.
Ok then now I want some opinions here.
I'm really sure that Vince Vaughn can pull off a decent Superman. The guy looks as though he is a pretty big guy. If Billy Zane is considered for Lex then we have 2 not so old actors playing their respective roles.
As far as Lois goes she has to be a little older. I don't mind the likes of Katie Holmes etc but Lois needs to be older also.
Must we really have young actors...really. It would be stupid.
If any of you guys disagree about Vaughn not being ideal for Superman then I really want to know. I'm curious to hear what you guys think.
