Chi bi (The Battle of Red Cliff): 8/10 - Easily one of the better chinese imports I ever took a chance on. It was a blind purchase really, I didn't know about it beforehand and just saw it and took interest. It's directed by John Woo and takes place during the fall of the Han Dynasty. For those of you who aren't familiar with the history of the Han Dynasty, the film revolves around it's Prime Minister, Cao Cao, and his desire to destroy the other ruling kingdoms and take China for himself. If you've ever played the video game "Dynasty Warriors", you'll familiarize yourself with this story right off the bad. Note, this is only the first part of a trilogy.

Well, I just watched "The Day The Earth Stood Still (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970416/)", and it has definitely has got to be one of the worst big budgeted science fiction films I have ever seen. The script was awful. There was no proper build up, no climax, no good resolution. The directing was awful. I felt cold and detached in every single scene. The characters were awful. They were just downright boring and unbelievable. In fact, there was no character development whatsoever. And the acting... Well the actors really didn't have any good material to work with. So no. There was no scenes with any good acting in this. Plus, the movie felt like it was about 5 minutes long and then it just ended abruptly. Just an awful mess of a film. I give this film a rating of an "F". And that is being too kind I think.

I hate to say it but I actually wish Michael Bay had written and directed this film. At least we have gotten a mindlessly entertaining epic booblam (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=booblam) flick instead.

Chrysalis is one of those films that is worth the rental alone just for its action sequences. Some of the fights were so intense I was cringing. However, this film like all foreign films is best watched in its original language with the subtitles. So if your not used to reading subtitles... well get over it, and you will be very thankful that you did.
