Five gunhands led by a man named Lane are hired by a widow, Mrs. Lowe, to find gold stolen by her husband so that she may return it and start fresh.

While not one of Wayne's classics, this is a fun "popcorn" movie. Good action and plot and Ann Margaret is drop dead gorgeous.

I assume you mean why the lower score. I was torn between a 7 or an 8, but what it came down to was that after all the hype I heard, it wasn't as wow as I thought it would be. The climax is certainly very well done, mostly of Harry and his mother, but I just felt like there wasn't enough transition into the downward spiral that there should've been and I didn't really buy much into any of the characters except for Harry's mom. I'm certainly glad I watched it, and an 8 is probably more fitting, but I was a little dissapointed in some aspects of it, mainly due to the hype surrounding it. Harry's arm scene was pretty nasty though.

"Texas Rangers" (2001)

The movie is set in 1875, a decade after the Civil War ended. During the war, the Texas Rangers had disbanded to fight for the Confederacy. At war's end, they were not reformed and the Union Army was occupying Texas, charged primarily with defending the State from Indian depredations. In the movie, the Governor of Texas asks Leander McNelly (Dylan McDermott)to form a company of Rangers to deal with the banditry along the Mexican border. Most of his company of Rangers are young men, orphans for the most part (James Van Der Beek, Ashton Kutcher) and a smattering of veterans of the late war (Robert Patrick, Randy Travis). Their prime target is the bandit King Fisher (Alfred Molina)who is stealing cattle, burning ranches, raping, looting, pillaging and otherwise breaking the law.

Decent, action filled movie. Nothing great but a fun popcorn movie.

Watched The Blair Witch Project for the first time on DVD (got it for free). It was interesting, I wouldn't say scariest movie ever though. Things didn't start picking up until one of the guys says he kicked the map into the lake and everyone starts yelling at him. Overall, not too bad, but not worthy of it's praise.
