The Legend of Zorro 7/10 I liked it a lot. Zorro is one of my childhood favorites - I used to watch the Disney series all the time.
The Sword swinging Cowboys was kind of weird. You kind of expect the French and Mexicans to fight with swords but not cowboys _ that's the only reason I gave it a 7 instead of 8.

Movies from last night and tonight.

Nightmare on Elm Street -- didn't scare me like it used to. I guess the older you get the more real horror you see in life. The fake stuff just loses it's touch with you. Freddy runs like a girl too. :funny:

An American Werewolf in London -- One of my favorites. The "suicide talk" in the theater is just killer. It's so entertaining. Good movie and the effects were way ahead of their time.

Wolf -- Not that bad.

The Virgin Spring - 10/10. This 1960 film directed by the swede Ingmar Bergman, starred Max Von Clydow as a rural farmholder. His daughter, the most important thing in the lives of both parents, is brutally raped and murdered whilst delivering candles to a local church. The film explores the repercussions of this event, both with the local peasants and the parents. Truly emotional, incredibly deep, and instantly one of my favorite films of all time. This movie was the inspiration for Last House on the Left, one of my favorite Carpenter films. The Virgin Spring is much better however. Highly recommended for anyone who's able to find it.

First of all let me say that I think all people on earth are equal in my eyes. I do not hate people, but I dislike the actions of some people, not the people themselves. That being said, here is the movie I just finished watching.

The Birth of a Nation (silent 1915) 7/10 - that score is not for its content but for its achievement as a landmark in film making.

True it is extremely slanted propaganda which espouses a certain viewpoint.
The first half is a rather tame portrayal of two families who are divided by the Civil War - there are a smattering of skewed ideals and stereotypes in the first half but not as completely offensive as in the second half.

The second half portrays the reconstruction period in America as being in the control of the "evil black population" who stuff ballot boxes and gain majority control over congress and the army - who then pass laws to oppress the "helpless innocent white population". Black people are then portrayed as malicious in their actions and intentions, inciting riots and being the first to break out in violence agains the "helpless whites". But then the "shining knights of truth and justice" (the KKK - who, by the way, hold fair trials according to this film) Ride in to save the day and restore order to the nation.
But that does not get it high marks from me.

What gives it a 7/10 from me is its cinematic effort. It is the first film to be over 100 minutes and is epic in its tale. Truly well crafted film with a large cast - Griffith filmed it all from his head with not even a note on paper as to it's direction. The battle scenes are probably unmatched for its time. The film I think is well put together for 1915 standards and truly a classic for its achievement. (not it's story)

You can view it for $1 over on google films.

Silence of the Lambs- 9/10

Hard to believe but it was the first time I've ever watched it. It's weird because violence in films never makes me uncomfortable, in fact I rarely feel strange while watching a movie. But some of those Buffalo Bill scenes were just way to weird for me, and I've seen a good helping of twisted films too.

The Invisible Boy (1957) 5/10 Robbie the Robot's second appearance after Forbidden Planet. Pretty goofy 50's sci fi fare it also has Alvy Moore (Mr Kimball from Green acres) but he's only in one scene as scientist # something or other.
