Last night i watched "Hellraiser"...good god...

What a horrible movie...I mean just everything about it was horrible. Every part of the movie was laughable, especially when his legs come out from the floorboards. The movie wasn't even scary. There is even a part where one of the characters is being chased by a scorpion thing, and you can CLEARLY see the thing that moves the fake prop. I laughed after one of my friends pointed it out. I'm not even going to rate this piece of garbage. Just...If you haven't seen it already, DON'T. Unless you're looking for a movie to watch with your friends so you can have your own "Mystery Science Theater 300", be my guest.

Dodgeball. Dull. Badly miscast. Vince Vaughan is a snore (I could imagine someone like Adam Sandler doing much better in the role) and Ben Stiller is interesting for about 30 seconds, but then the joke won't stop. He's essentially playing an evil version of the Zoolander character. The rest of the cast try hard, but they just aren't the best actors for this type of comedy. The "celebrity" cameo's also seemed forced and fail to get a laugh. 5/10.

Love the retro style and how they make it look like and old day sci- fi and the effects are pretty cool but they look fake and almost too obviopus way and the cheesy dialouge can be very disturbing sometimes so i had to take off points(as we must for very movie that is not casablanca, the matrix, braveheart, the wizard of oz, psycho, indinana jones, E.T., gone with the wind, pleasentville or the classic star wars trilogy). I just wrote my top ten list in one sentence :P

Just saw "Touch of Evil" again (the re-edited) 9/10 (10/10 for the first 3 minutes)

One of my favorites. . .

What I've seen recently:

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia - A

Peckinpah's best film, even better than The Wild Bunch. The dvd has a clear transfer and is well worth the $10.

Star Trek: First Contact - B

Good ol' Star Trek. The new dvd has a lot of bells and whistles too and is well worth the $15.

I'll admit to being a bit late considering that I'm a SW fan but I didn't really expect this thing to be worth getting excited about. I thought this way right up until the first few minutes of watching this awesome movie. It actually kind of makes you sad when you think about it because it seems so much more dark and serious than any of the prequels up to this point. Let me say that I actually ...like....the prequels. I believe that GL made an awesome universe in the prequels but, I believe, in his desire to be as commercially viable as possible, George has reduced the franchise to little more than a sci fi Disney\Pixar affair. My major gripes are pretty much in line with what most of the posters here think.

-Jar Jar Binks. I don't think that the character should have been deleted, but toned down. You know, not such an idiot. These movies should have funny moments, but they are not comedies and they certainly shouldn't be bad comedies.
-In the OT, the robots seemed menacing or robotic but in the prequels they are just comic relief (unfunny, I might add) saying things like, "Roger, roger", and "Okey dokey" and I'm not even going to bring up C3PO in II.
-Phrases like, "The party's over", and "I don't think so" just don't fit because they bring the movies to earth in the nineties, no less and takes me away from that galaxy far far away.
-All of those horrible child actors (Ep I) makes me believe that GL chose some of his friends children, and not real actors because none of them seemed to possess any talent.
-I hated the way Obi Wan seemed intimidated when Jango was staring him down.
-Poorly choreographed lightsaber battle in Ep. II. A let down considering the awesome showdown in Ep. I.
-And last but certainly not least, that wooden, poorly scripted, poorly acted "love" story between Padme and Anakin. It was supposed to be hot and intriguing but I never got the feeling that they really ever liked each other. It helped none that the dialog between them sounded like it came out of some old black and white movie from the forties.

It makes you sad because GL could have fixed some of these issues without any major rewrites and produced movies that would deservedly go down in history as the finest ever made. I don't know why I'm writing all of this, I guess just to vent a little, which is something that I never do, but after watching Clone Wars, I am reminded of what GL is actually capable of. I am reminded of why I fell in love with SW in the first place. There is, of course, still hope. I am really jazzed up waiting for May 19th because the trailers make me believe that Ep III will end the series on a high note, or at least higher note, but that's actually sad too. I believe that SW had the potential to be this generations LOTR's. Something that would be read as literature a hundred years from now. Either way, it's still been a nice ride. Sorry this was so long.
