Last night....
Saw
So I went out yesterday and got me a copy of "Saw: Uncut Version" on DVD thinking that I was in for a sadistic movie with lots of violence and brain twisiting plots..... sadly that's not what I was watching, it is a good movie in the psychological thriller sense but it's not much more than that...... it was an enjoyable movie and even the guy in the store said he couldn't stand to watch it all which is what I've been hearing from a number of people..... so I watched it and was wondering what was so uncut about it, if they cut anything out it must've been very little....... I really expected more from the movie but the 15 minutes at the end were excellent, high point of the movie was the ending, didn't expect it at all

Desperado - 8/10 I was kind of dissapointed when they changed the El Mariachi character from Carlos Gallardo (El Mariach 1992) to Antonio Banderas (Desperado 1995) I think Carlos did a better job. And then they brought Carlos in to play Campa, one of El Mariachi's "guitar player" friends overall, it was a fun movie. I like Buscemi and Tarantino they both were good for the time they were in it

I watched The Fly because it was on the WB today while I was surfin' the net. It was alright...not the best movie I've seen. Just be ready for a gross out fest. By the way it was the 1980 remake with Jeff Goldblum and Gena Davis.
I also went and watched Man of the House. It was pretty good. I'd rate it a 7 out of 10. I thought it was pretty funny. Had me laughing a lot.

Signs
Yeah I know it's going back a couple of years but I never really watched this movie until last night..... it still isn't all it was hyped up to be back in the day but there's just something about M. Knight Shyamalan movies that makes them really enjoyable.... the lack of special effects is a bonus but we shouldn't have been allowed to see the aliens at all..... should've kept it a mystery when it came to appearance. The man loves to have some sort of twist in his movies and yet again that's a bonus but now it's becoming too expectant, if he keeps going this way a twist wont come as a surprise anymore
21 Grams
Ok where to start with this..... was enjoyable but didn't offer anything new, reminded me of Go in a way, not that it's a bad thing.... keeping the cast to a minimum while still telling a big story is something I really enjoy and 21 Grams gave me just that....... this movie isn't for everyone, I guess you need to have a desired taste for this type of movie...... if you do then by all means watch it

Spirited Away -7.5/10. Very entertaining movie filled with fascinating characters. Could have been more creepy though. Also lacks a real point to it all, some kinda of ending to really hit the home run with.
Excalibur - 7.5/10. A bit of a mess in the first hour. Poor direction gives no time for pacing or reflecting. No attempt at characterisation. It gradually gets better, despite some silly moments (do they ever take the armour off? Hell, they even wear it in the love scene). The second half improves remarkably, almost as if directed by a different person. Suddenly we're given moments to pause and consider what's just happened. Even a little insight into the characters. The futile quest for the grail is much more fascinating than the love triangle. The guy playing King Arthur also manages to have some good lines, proving he's not totally dull.

Swamp Women- 8/10
I don't see why this is on the 50 Horror Classics set when it was just about an undercover police woman infiltrating a prison and helping some Cons escape to find diamonds in a swamp. It was made by Roger Corman but I was expecting them to run across some kind of monster but they didn't. Still fairly entertaining though.

True Romance - 8/10
I really actually enjoyed this very much. Anything written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by Tony Scott is good in my books. So many good actors made appearances or quick cameos in this movie and I loved that.
You had a cast with Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Brad Pitt, Val Kilmer, Samuel L. Jackson and etc.
Along with the magnificent cast, I really enjoyed the storyline and Christian Slater's Clarence was entertaining and he kept me attentive for the whole 2 hours. The dialogue was extremely well written and very creative. You had cops, gangsters, pimps, stoners, drug addicts, and romantic couples. Quentin Tarantino is a genious when it comes to writing. It would of been very interesting if he directed, but I had absolutely no problem with Tony Scott. Well made movie! I recommend it to people who enjoy the work of Tarantino, and it really reminds me of movies like Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and other dialogue driven movies.
