M. Night..........*sigh*. I don't know what to say about him. He is very good at mood and tone. Although most of his characters seem to be in an emotional stupor throughout his movies. They all seem numb for some reason. I don't know. This movie moved along pretty good, but the ending was just............I don't know. It's like there should have been some sort of show down. Instead, Bruce walks off and calls the cops. Whee! M. Night, you cannot rest on The Sixth Sense your whole career.

Kill Bill Volume 1 followed up by Kill Bill Volume 2:cool: .
Volume 1 gets a 10/10 and Volume 2 gets a 9.5/10 just because I preferred the flash and spectacle that was contained in the first one but Volume 2 is essential and is way more emotional. I posted a review in the 'Current movies and Reviews' forum.

Kill Bill Vol-1
7/10
Thought it could have been MUCH MUCH BETTER if the editing was different. I didn't like the way the visual style of the film switched so often (i was expecting this BTW). Im the type of viewer that likes the STYLE of the film to stay persistent. Didn't like the anima/cartoon story of the film, thought it was too long and WAY out of place. That just took away from the FILM for me. It didn't fit and completely took my out of the story. The BLOOD shooting out of heads and arms like a fountain was innoying and STUPID IMHO AGAIN....could have been much better, with, i hate to say it, another director (OR JUST ANOTHER EDITOR WHO EDITED IT ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT TARENTINO THERE, which im sure he was there for) His directing IS AMAZING, but i didn't and usual don't particularly like the ways his films flow, the way the story is told and the way they are editing. ALL MY OPINION...
the film was very good thought, and ill be seeing VOL 2 in theaters (which i rarely see films in theaters). IM sure on more viewings i will grow to like the film more as i was expecting alot from it

Memento: 9.5/10
Still an ingeniously crafted and well-acted thriller, but a lot of the energy is gone once you've seen it once.
Masked and Anonymous: 6.5/10
I can't say I didn't like it. I was just very confused by it.
Better Off Dead: 9/10
Funny. Very 1980's. John Cusack is cool.
The Big Lebowski: 10/10
Brilliant Coen tour de force. Everyone may respect Fargo, but The Big Lebowski is their comic masterpiece, and one of my five favorite movies of all time.
Tom Green Subway Monkey Hour: 9.5/10
Hysterical. "Why don't you have something to drink? Choose one, making you better feeling!"
Evil Dead II: 9/10
Goofy Raimi cult masterpiece. A guilty pleasure, always. Favorite of the three Evil Dead flicks, by far.
Kung Pow! Enter the Fist: 8/10
Funny, but also occasionally rather annoying, and, well, it's pretty stupid.
Pi: X/10
I really wanted to watch this but ended up spacing/sleeping through the whole thing. I can't remember anything at all about it.
The Frighteners: 8/10
Fun Jackson goofiness, with some great Weta effects and a funny performance by Michael J. Fox. I yearn to see the director's cut, though.
Pulp Fiction: 10/10
Another on my top five favorites, Pulp Fiction will never bore me. It's Tarantino's best movie -- Kill Bill can come close, but Pulp Fiction will always be funnier, edgier, and cooler than everyone else in the room.

Crossroads is one of my all time favorite movies. I didn't think anyone else had heard of it. Can't seem to find the DVD though.
Spacecamp 7/10
I really liked this movie, in an eighties-disney-teen flick kind of way. But any movie in space pretty much gets a thumbs up from me, I shamefully admit. There is a young actor in this film who looks exactly like Joaquin Phoenix would've looked as a ten year old. I read the credits and his name was Leaf Phoenix, so either Joaquin changed his name or that's his brother.
Legend67
04-20-2004, 08:25 PM
Aha! I looked up Joaquin's filmography and it said that he was sometimes credited as "Leaf". So it WAS him.

Generally, I thought the movie was fairly average as far as plot and characters go. It's a duller Kubrick effort (I guess because it's one of his earlier films), but it's a good movie and well made at that.

A very nice revenge movie. Even though I still prefer The Punisher.
Really? I thought this movie was much better than Punisher. In fact, I thought it was the movie Punisher should have been. I thought Creasy would make Frank wet his pants.

Loved every minute of this comic adaptation. Especially since it took so much from the comics.

Well, I'm a pretty big Punisher fan and The Punisher was like a dream come true. If The Punisher was filmed the same way Man on Fire was, it'd make it even better. I agree with you about Creasy though, the man was a total badass.

I'm a longtime Punisher fan and I was disappointed in it. I mean yeah, I give it a 7/10. I liked the action in it, and the acting was fine. The story bothered me the most with it's one dimensional direction. Man on Fire was the same movie at heart, but the characters evolved the story to a level beyond Punisher's.

The Wraith 3/10
Besides the eighties feel(which I like) this movie was a cowpie. Terrible plot. Terrible acting. We never know how the Wraith got that car or the special powers and why they gave them to him. We know that he's on a revenge kick and that he's after a group of thugs who are terrorizing a town. Somehow, they can rape, kidnap and scream down the highway at will, but the police never seem to arrest them. But then, that is what the Wraith is for. He kills them all one by one, but we don't know why they attacked him in the first place. Then at the end of the movie he inexplicably gives the car away to his brother and rides his bike off in the sunset with his girl.
I found this movie in the $5.50 bin at Walmart(don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about). They need to come up with a $2.00 bin.

LOL:D . I have a special place in my heart for The Wraith. Back in the day I used to rent every movie that I saw on the shelf with a car on it and this turned into one of my favourites. Of course if I went back to it now it would seem cheesy but come on....that turbo interceptor was the sh**!, and the bad guy had an awesome Stingray. I can hear that tubby guy's voice who starts the races now "You lose the race, you lose your car!.....Ready?"...lol. A cult "Car movie" classic in my book. If you want another awesome car movie from that same period and also starring Charlie Sheen I recommend "No Man's Land". Ahhhh memories:) .

LOL! That's true. "No Man's Land" I thought was a pretty decent movie. I remember watching The Wraith back in the mid-eighties and I remember enjoying it to no end. Yesterday was the first time that I'd seen it since then. I guess you gotta be a tween to understand. Another cult car movie that was good was "Repo Man". That was pretty tight as well.
