Jesus, is anything sacred these days? I can't believe they are actually going to start remaking The Manchurian Candidate. That is a classic. You don't mess with classics. Hollywood needs new ideas and the balls to use them. And fast. Otherwise, we'll soon no doubt be seeing 'Gone With the Wind' 'Casablanca' 'Citizen Kane' 'Brazil' and a whole bunch of other classic movies being remade alongside The Manchurian Candidate.

To be honest, I'm more surprised that it didn't happen sooner. ;)
Any word on who's doing it or is this just like that old Casablanca rumour?

And this is coming from a guy who just did a remake of Charade.

I think Denzel Washington is doing it, BTW this might be a silly question but what was the original all about.

This tapping of past ideas dried up a long time ago. That's why I'm initially suspect of remakes. I would of course have to know who would be involved for certain, I'd decide than whether it's a bad idea or good idea. Sort of like launching a clay pigeon, you hit or miss, look impressive or look stupid.

No one wants to comment on those pics?
Heh, is it just me, or does it look like the actors were mainly casted based on their resemblances to their predecessors?

Just thought I'd bump this up since the release is drawing ever so close, and no one has talked about it since.

Shaw looks pretty good. I still think the whole remake thing is a bad idea though.

Trailer looks ok... except Meryl Streep is nowhere near as sinister as Angela Lansbury was.

What I didn't like in the original was the fact that they left the plot point regarding Ben's 'controller' hanging, and ultimately it went nowhere... . I half expected a sequel to TMC after that! hehe
