Your BigBro is only starting now! It's been on here for a while. In fact one of the housemates was sent to South Africa to join in their BigBro as a personal task.

'Brother' big on 'ex' appeal
Fourth incarnation adds 'perfect soap opera fodder'
By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER, JOSEF ADALIAN
Now that the contestants on "Big Brother 4" have been safely sequestered, producers today will reveal a new twist on the CBS reality show's traditional format.
Hoping to add more drama to the summer staple, exec producers Arnold Shapiro and Allison Grodner have concocted a plan to reunite ex-boyfriends, ex-girlfriends and ex-spouses within the "Big Brother" house -- without any of them knowing.
Shapiro and Grodner call it "Big Brother 4: The X Factor."
"We think we have the most exciting and unpredictable twist that we have ever done," Shapiro said. "I can hardly wait to see how it plays out."
In past summers, "Big Brother" has simply followed the exploits of strangers cooped inside a house, where they must adapt to each other and life without contact from the outside world.
Love connections
This time around, after casting an initial nine contestants, the "Big Brother" crew started investigating those players' former loves (without their knowledge) and contacting those exes, four of whom were ultimately recruited for the show.
All told, 13 players (seven men, six women) will live in the "Big Brother" house this summer, up from 12 a year ago.
That means eight of the players will be stuck in the house with their former flames, while the other five won't be.
And none of the contestants -- even the four who were chosen later in the process -- know that they're about to encounter their exes in the house.
"As a result of the way we did this, Alison and I and the entire casting department can qualify as spies for the CIA," Shapiro said of the covert casting operation. "This had to be done so delicately and creatively."
Shapiro credited Grodner with initially creating the "X Factor" idea.
"We see 'Big Brother' as a soap opera, and thought this was perfect soap opera fodder," Grodner said. "For us it was all about what could we do that was so different from the other years. What better way than bringing in pre-existing relationships, and potentially volatile ones?"
Strategic moves
The producers believe the "X Factor" will alter the contestants' pre-conceived strategies in the house, as some exes form alliances and others go head-to-head. As in years past, houseguests will vote each other out of the house on a weekly basis, with the final player winning $500,000.
Shapiro and Grodner also have other changes in store for "Big Brother 4," which premieres Tuesday, July 8, at 8 p.m. (show will also air Wednesdays at 9 and Fridays at 8).
"Big Brother 4" will include the show's youngest-ever (19) and oldest (59) houseguests. And unlike past years, no one in this year's cast is married.
The producers also decided this year to open up another house to sequester players who have been voted out of the "Big Brother" house, starting with the fifth banished houseguest.
That way, the final group of seven players -- who ultimately return to pick the show's winner -- won't be swayed by what they see on the show. They'll be allowed to watch portions of what airs on the "Big Brother" telecast, but not segments from the "Diary Room" -- in which contestants reveal secrets about their strategy.
Those isolated players will continue to be taped, with some footage from house No. 2 likely to be used on the show. "When they're in this house, they're still playing the game," Grodner said.
Decision to keep sequestering the players came after last year's show, when producers felt that banished houseguest voters were swayed by watching the Diary Room comments.
As for the house itself, Shapiro and Grodner have redecorated it to boast a swingin' '60s-style motif -- complete with shag carpet.
"Big Brother 4" comes from Shapiro/Grodner, in association with Endemol USA. John de Mol created the format.

Eh, although it does look to be an interesting season, I'm not that excited about the houseguests. They're all really young except for the 58 yr old guy, and for there to be a true dynamic like previous seasons, they need some middle aged people (ex. Danyale, Nicole, Monica). I'm going to watch either way. Perhaps it will be better than BB3, perhaps not. The twist is interesting.

I was pumped about hte first episode, but began to wonder where was the diversity? There's one old guy, and the rest are what Mr. TV said. The lack of diversity is what dissapoints me.

Scott’s Temper Tantrum Causes Early Exit from Big Brother
by David Bloomberg -- 07/13/2003
It seems that “The X-Factor” was simply too much of a strain for Scott. The ex-boyfriend of Amanda threw a temper tantrum – and several chairs – last night, and is now no longer in the house. Read on for the details we have as of now.
It seems that if we are to have a true sense of déjà vu, Justin should be the one throwing a temper tantrum and scaring the other houseguests (because of the HouseGuest with the same name who did that two years ago). That, however, didn’t happen. Instead it was Scott, ex-boyfriend of Amanda, who blew up and sent other HouseGuests into hiding. And producers apparently didn’t wait very long to show him the door.
Details are somewhat sketchy, in part because some of the live feeds went to FOTH (Front Of The House) as some of this unfolded. But here is what we at RealityNewsOnline have been able to piece together right now. At about 9:40 pm last night, several HouseGuests heard loud noises inside the house. Scott was inside throwing chairs around in a temper tantrum. Viewers of the 24/7 live feeds reported that he and Amanda were talking just before it occurred, with him telling her that he had heard stories and getting increasingly agitated. Recall that Scott has been saying – on the show itself – how he really wants to get back together with Amanda. But it never appeared that Amanda was interested in the same outcome. Somehow, he became increasingly agitated and it turned into a full-blown tantrum. After he threw the chairs, Scott was immediately called to the Diary Room, but initially refused to go (the picture above came from that timeframe).
After Scott finally obeyed the producers, Amanda explained to some of the other HouseGuests that while he is a great guy, he is also spoiled and “doesn’t handle situations in a mature way.” She went on to say that he blamed everyone else for his own problems and wants things handed to him.
A number of the women insisted that after this incident, they no longer felt safe. Dana was among the most outspoken on this point (and I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that she wants him gone anyway and has made that clear to others in her alliance).
After meeting with producers, Scott came out and apologized to everybody, explaining that he has genital warts and this has put a lot of stress on him. He says that they have not actually appeared in a year but seeing Amanda brought him back to that time and reinforced how she has been able to go on with her life but he has isolated himself because of the condition. (It appears that Amanda may have revealed this information about his condition to the other HouseGuests just before he did, causing Alison to throw up and then disinfect the toilet bowl.)
This did not exactly make all the HouseGuests feel comfortable. A number of them questioned his sincerity and still felt he should leave. This was only made worse when he lashed out at Jun during his apology because she apparently asked him a question about what would have happened if a chair had hit somebody.
Sometime after all of this happened, it now appears that Scott is gone. Various live feed boards are reporting that it is unclear if he left of his own volition or was tossed. However, at the group meeting, he said he wanted to stay. Whether this changed or he was simply ejected from the house is unclear at this time.
Before the series started and before the “X-Factor” twist was fully revealed, the producers of Big Brother 4 indicated that they had a twist in store and even said, somewhat gleefully, that they wouldn’t be surprised if somebody walked out the very first day. Well, it took a little longer than they thought, but it appears their thinking was right on the money. The X-Factor was too much for Scott to handle, and they should just be thankful that he threw the chairs around the room instead of at somebody.

JUN you annoying little B****. i just hate how she has to criticize every little detail of everyone. she has no right to criticize other peoples looks, especially that she is not too attractive herself.

ah man big brother is not very good compared to the others. i dunno, this year there arent really any good characters that i like with the exception of a couple. eh they are all pretty much the same. with no real diversity. sure there is jun and jee, but they are so american like, that we need some diverse different ethic backgrounds.
ps. i hear that the other big brothers are so much better. the ones in the european countries at least.

i want to say that alison is an IDIOT. she makes a comment to justin how he has a big mouth, not exact words but how he told some stuff she told him. then she goes and makes a comment about how she thinks nathan is secretly gay. nathan may in fact be that way, but she shouldn't be saying those kinds of things and spredaing rumors about someone about the person who saved her sorry self. he is the person she has the biggest aliance in the house with. he used the veto to save her. why would she say something like that could get back to him. it isn't going to make her look good in his eyes, when several people already are out to get her. i don't like nathan much right now either because people told him not to save her, and also he has made some stupid decisions. but she is just a moron, why would you bad mouth one of the few alies you have in the house, to someone who is an ex who has a big mouth, and is out to get you out the house.
