With the Alien movie being re-released in the theatres this Oct. w/ all the deleted scenes in the movie .. Does this mean that the Alien Quadrilogy will be out before or after it is back in the theatres ??
Has anybody heard of a release date for the Alien Quadrilogy 9-disc set ??
What is going on ??

i'm as confused as you are, although i already have the original alien DVD set, i am willing to get the SE of the films
but my only problem is i don't know exactly what the new set will contain, or when it comes out

I also bought the original Alien Boxset way back in august 2000, but I΄m sure as hell gonna get this baby too. To find out more about this new "Alien Quadrilogy" boxset, read the extraordinary 2-page article about the DVD set in the may issue of EMPIRE. They state that the boxset should be released in the US sometime september/october, and in Europe early 2004. In case you don΄t own the magazine (or if you΄re unable to get your hands on it), here are a few interesting quotes from the article:
...containing no fewer than nine discs, with hours of never-before-seen material.
The studio is staying tight-lipped about exactly what there is: according to Fox spokesperson Jean Levicki, this is mainly due to "the fact we΄re not in the promotional period, and there are ongoing negotiations and discussions over what will appear."
"We will have new cuts of Alien, Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection", says Fox΄s Sven Davidson. These will all include deleted material that will be seamlessly branched into the existing film. In the case of Aliens, there will be the choice of the theatrical edition, previously unavaible on DVD, and the extended Special Edition. The box set΄s version of David Fincher΄s Alien 3 will undoubtedly have fans salivating, providing an ideal opportunity for the much-maligned film to be re-appraised. The so-called ΄Extended Work Print΄ ("Fincher will not allow us to call it a director΄s cut", says Davidson) will potentially incorporate much of the vast amount of deleted footage excised from the radically cut theatrical version, perhaps generating a near doubled running time and a vastly different film.
All four directors look set to provide commentaries -
Each film will also bear cast commentaries, though the participants for each are not confirmed.
The supplementary discs appear to be fully-loaded affairs, potentially containing approximately four hours of material on each disc, including six-to-eight featurettes, deleted scenes, documentaries, multi-angle scene studies, full screenplays, trailers, art galleries and DVD-ROM material. The ninth disc will house feature-length documentaries: the 68-minute Alien Legacy, devoted to Ridley Scott΄s Alien, that featured in the 1999 set, and the BBC΄s excellent 2001 75-minute Alien Evolution documentary...
Currently set for a Region 1 debut in September...

i'm really excited about the extended cut of alien 3, i've always thought it was an uncomplete film and from what i hear alot of cool scenes were cut, and now we will get them:)
also how can they add stuff to aliens? wasn't stuff already added by cameron, or am i mistaken?

As stated, the Aliens DVD will include the original theatrical cut, and the Special Edition (which, at the moment, is the only version of the movie avaible on DVD). I΄m looking forward to seeing the original version of Aliens, since both versions have their draws and setbacks.

I΄m not exactly sure, but given the timing and the "will include new cuts of Alien..." sentence, I believe we can be pretty certain that it΄s the new theatrical re-release version of Alien that will be released in this new boxset.

I liked Alien Resurrection up until Ripley has the enounter with her baby.
I'd love to own this set, but it looks as if money won't permit. So unless the president of the DVD division at Fox loses his mind and sets the price at $39, I'll have to wat til I'm fat and rich.

How much will this one cost? Just the fact that it's 9 discs should bump it to the $100s.

Unless you preordered it a couple of months back from Dvdsoon.com for the price of $74 CAD which is about $50 US. :)

I'm afraid this one could cost well over the $100....
Esteban

apparently the UK RRP is looking like £79.99, which is about $125 US... forget that..
cheapest i think at the moment is on dvdsoon, as someone mentioned above... it's currently $93.98 CAD over there, which is about £40...
an insider over on another forum seems to be suggesting that DTS tracks will appear on all four films :) this would explain the need for 2-discs a bit more. one disc for film, soundtracks (at the moment assuming DD5.1 and DTS) and commentaries and the other for the extras for that specific film... two jam packed DVD-9's per film would do down a treat ;)
looking forward to it very much :)

Okay, a lot of things are happening with this boxset today. First of all, the official release date has been confirmed: 2/12 (that's 12/2 for you Americans). In approximately 5 hours, thedigitalbits will reveal the final official specs of the release - which we've all been waiting for for well over a year now. BTW, this image (http://www.axelmusic.dk/resources/covers/back/5707020252314.jpg) (the back-cover of the Danish version of the 9-disc boxset) will tell you exactly how long the 4 'Special Edition' versions of the movies last.
