So many to choose from. Personally, I think not only Shelob and the Pyre of Denethor, but undoubtedly the final battle and Èowyn's battle. Oh, hell, they are all going to be great.

Yes, you guessed it, The Palantir/Pippin scene is what I'm waiting for the most. Also, anything with the hobbits I'll enjoy but I won't antipicate them as much as the Palantir.

I agree southern, that is my second most anticipated scene.

I cant wait to see the EPIC battles for The Return of the King. I know for a fact that PJ and WETA are going to go all out with the war scenes. The battles are just going to be amazing! Mainly the last battle in Mordor, thats one I cant wait to see! I cant wait until December.

Macbane

this may sound a little morbid, but i hope they keep in the part where the orcs catapult the heads of the fallen soldiers back into minas tirith...that would be pretty gnarly.

That would be keeping in the brutality of the orcs that they showed in the first one where Lurtz licked the knife clean of blood. I think it would be cool, seeing as it would show the utter disgust the soldiers of Gondor have for the hosts of Mordor and vice versa.

That was pretty true of the second movie, but I don't think Merry and Pippin will have a lack of things to keep them busy. I can think of at least 5 major scenes for them in ROTK that I can't wait to see.

I was kind of hoping they'd leave Shelob, I don't know, a little mysterious. Something is always scarier when you can't see a clear picture of it. If they just show parts of her and keep her mostly in the shadows with a few glistening eyes or something, now THAT would be eerie. A few hissing noises and gargling splurts or something.

Kind of like "Signs" I would have loved it so much more if they hadn't shown a clear picture of the alien at the end.

Crud, I'm trying to remember. Well, the little girl's water thing was obvious. OH! Because when the alien breathed toxic fumes or whatever onto the boy, his lungs were closed due to his asthma, thus saving his life. I'm still mad that they showed the alien. I mean, the whole movie they purposely left him mysterious, then ruined it! And to think, Shyamalan almost had me won over.

There are two types of LOTR fans.

1.) The kind who have not read the book and have seen the movie, and then maybe later after they've seen the movie, decide to read the book.

2.) The kind who have read the book, a few years ago before the movie ever came out, and who know what's going to happen.

I guess you're #1.

Well, ya gotta look at it this way: Tolkein himself was really anti-Hollywood. He didn't write the books with any notion whatsoever that they'd be turned into these epic films years and years later. The scouring is a really cool part in the book, but IMO would have done poorly if it were adapted to the screen. Think of everything that goes on before that chapter. If it were left in, it would have
1) been really anti-clamctic
and 2) tagged on possibly another 15-20 minutes into an already speculated 31/2 hour film. It just wouldn't have worked. Like Tom Bombadil, and the Barrow-Downs from Fellowship, just too much to add to an already immensely elaborate and accurate film.

Your right, it would have been like making the hobbit first, It would have turned people away from the movies. Anyway, I still think they can salvage the Tom Bombadil thing;)
Just put some short guy dressed in blue and gold in the backround at the Grey Havens, maybe waving......It would make the fans happy and the regular viewers not too curious. It would solve all the problems....:D

He didn't in the book, but I don't think it would matter much wether he does see her or not. As long as he says bye to Merry!

And then after Theoden's death, Eomer and the Rohirrim chant "DEATH" and start slaying orcs! that was one of my fav parts of the book!

Boods
02-02-2003, 05:22 AM
i love the part of theodens death, cos its also the part of the witch kings death which is gonna quite impressive i hope .... if i remember well ... the witch king arrives on its winged creature ... eowyn cuts off the creature head while its flying low and its falls ... the wich king stands up with his hood down ... approches eowyn and just before he kills her merry sticks his sword from behind in the witch king and he falls ..... then eowyn sticks her sword between the robes and the crown of the witch king .. so right in the face .. and she falls ... u really think she dies then ... eomer arrives sees the king who says his last words and then he sees his sister and goes out riding slaying orcs and yelling DEATH ..

OMG what a good part this will be in the movie .....

As I recall, it's a very obscure part of the book where the wild men guide the Rohirrim to Gondor quickly, and at the end of the book, Aragorn gives them a forest or something.....

I think it would be better if they left it out, becuase even in the book it was odd.

Yeah, that's been around for a while, but I guess you haven't heard.

In the movie, they are supposedly going to have Saruman fall out of his tower at Orthanc after Wormtongue slits his throat or something. Then he falls onto his own creations and dies. Legolas picks off Wormtongue or something.

Hope I didn't ruin too much for ya!;)

A scene that I am looking forward to is the charge of the Rohirrim, seeing them making the first charge after the fields have been taken over and grond has smashed the great gate down at minas tirith There are so many to think of...

Is Enya singing in the third one too?
The music was fine for TTT, but everytime I hear May It Be, I literally cry. I can imagine how sad it would be to here May It Be in the third one, but I know it wouldn't fit.

There will be a song by Liv Tyler at the end of the novie. The song wa done before FOTR was done, but PJ wouldn't tell Liv which one it'd be in. Since two movies have been out we can posatively say it will be in ROTK

How can you boycott it? They already made the movie and can't change it easily. They won't change it just for a few extra dollars, because what matters to PJ is the goodness of the movie. I really do think, though, that they'll have it.

Bilbo's also going to play an emotional role in Movie 3. Peter Jackson said he was hi favorite character and is important in the third installment or something like that, as long as he doesnt go crazy the scenes with Bilbo probaly also will be emotional.

( And Tolkien said: " let all who read the book build a great arc, for they know that grief and tear-shedding is ahead," and the illiterates mocked them calling them fools and geeks. And as the third movie of the first Tolkien series came, they wept for 40 scenes and 40 minutes after that. But the great arc bore the LOTR fans over the ocean and to safety ANd they were merry and Tolkien sent some DVD special extended editions to promise them that a flood in the theatre will never happen again.....

THat none of us ( the ones who think that the wars are going to be 5000% cool scenes, that the emotianl scenes are going to flood the theatre, and the landscape literally melt us) know how amazing the movie is!!!!!

Maybe we realy should take the arc idea seriosly, this is no joking matter...

Remember Frodo's dream in the book(Tom's house), where he is climbing up the mountain then see's the ocean and the Undying lands. That was always one of my most favorite passages in LOTR.

Well I have never read The Simmalliron(sp?) so I don't really know the description, I just saw the name on here and it reminded me of a pic I saw on tolkienonline.com, so I thought I'd share it

Which is why I hope they don't show it. We all have our own picture of what it looks like and to actually show someone else's views might kind of ruin it for me!:(

Ah but in the same sense that is what they are doing with the LOTR Movies... Creating one picture of what Middle Earth looks like etc. Where people may have seen it differently... But I think they have done a great job so far in creating the true Middle Earth

That's true, but Tolkien did such a good job describing it, that is sort of what I imagined. I mean, we know what mountains look like and what tangled forests look like, but we've never seen something like The West. But unless I'm wrong (probably) he never went into great detail describing it......

That would actually be kind of cool. I mean, can't you picture yourself being friends w/ a 3 and a half foot cyclops hobbit with hairy feet? And no, I never thought I'd use the words cyclops and hobbit in a sentece before.....
