Yeah they did a good job with what they had. I mean they didn't have that much of a notice from the WB that they were canceling.

Being new here I'm just repeating what everyone has already said, but Angel was,and still is my favorite show on tv. I try to catch it in reruns everyday. The WB were fools for canceling it. My favorite season is the one that's playing now in reruns:season 5. I'm waiting for that final season to be released on dvd.I'm thinking sometime in January 2005.

If I were the cast of Angel, I would tell the WB to go 'F' themselves.

They should follow Buffy's footsteps and head over to UPN just to stick it to the WB.

WB executive meeting:

"Gee, I got a great idea - let's cancel Angel and bring back some lame vampire show that sucked back in the 70's or 80's, but let's cancel that even before it makes it onto the air."

"Brilliant"

You know I watch Buffy Reruns on TBS in the morning (6 to 8 M-F) and the Series finally was yesterday. Today the pilot episode was on and I guess I never saw the first 4 or five episodes of season 1 for Buffy because I never knew that Angel was in the pilot. Man David looked young. Now I want to start watching the episodes because I missed some here and there and did not get into the series until halfway in the first season. I am digging this TBS setup: 2 episodes a day, 5 days a week. So Season 1 will only take this week and most of next (only 12 episodes) and after that a season about every 2 weeks. Cool.

I personally am a Buffy first then Angel fan for Spike is the best Character next to Willow and Angel. Angels bet seaso was when Spike came on in the final season. Its too bad Spike and Angel didn't get another year to have a really great finale. The one they had was good but it really seemed rushed. I hope to see atleast a Giles spin off with Spike Dawn Willow and few poteintial Slayers. I personally think Spike has earned his own show. I'll miss the Joss Whedon shows. "I always wanted to slay a Dragon.Lets go to work."
The final words from Angel in the season finale. That is classic Angel words. Nothing to flashy. Just the way Angel always was. That is why I liked the show. You could tell that the Buffy and Angel actors seemed close.

Another reason to hate The WB. They are promoting James Marsters' appearance on an upcoming episode of The Mountain (bleeech) by saying "James Marsters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer ". Bastards! First you cancel Angel, then promote your other crap shows by bringing up his name from another show you shunned. At least say he was from Angel.

On a happier note though, The Mountain is doing horrible in ratings. If The WB were smart they'd can it soon. But it's The WB, so I'd expect another season or ten. (Look at 7th Heaven).

They have to give James Marsters a nod. Weither its a Spinoff or Angel movie. Spike has been they strong much needed character next to Willow on Buffy and Weasly on Angel. I guess Iam asking. If they do a movie should spike get a tv show spin off while he is back on track.

TarzanMac
11-25-2004, 04:10 AM
In my opinion spike shouldn't get a spin off series.
Reason being Buffy and Angel have fought just about every Demon ever and between them all they have saved the world on numerous occasions.
Spike would just be doing the same week in week out.
As much as I loved watching the Buffy series and the Angel series I think it is time to forget them and move on and make something else.

I think you are wrong. I think there is room for one more spin off series. As long as Spikes in itthen its ok. I however think Spikes show woudn't be confind to one town or country. Haha! I bring the thread back to life!

News from TV Guide about the Angel TV movies.

Question: I'm pleased to hear that you plan to ask the WB folks about Angel movies, but please, what we need are Spike movies starring James Marsters. So, if those WBers try to brush you off with a generic "David Boreanaz is busy," you'll help us out and ask specifically about Spike, won't you please? — Grace

Ausiello: As you predicted, WB president David Janollari immediately played the "[Boreanaz] has a lot of other things going on" card when I asked him for an update on the Angel movies. But I was ready with my Spike follow-up. "I've never thought of that," he said of doing a Marsters-centric telepic. "I had not thought about it. We always thought Angel would be the character the audience would want to come back to see. We may give some thought to the Spike movie. That's interesting." I can't be sure, but I think I just pitched a show to the WB.

:( If only.

Spike centred tv movie? Could be good I guess. Though I'd still like some closure on the entire Buffiverse as a whole, I'll take whatever I can get.

If your cash reserves are a little lacking like (mine are), Season 5 just started today on TNT. TNT (channel 245 on DirecTV) shows Angel every weekday morning from 7am (texas time) to 8am. I did not see the last half of season 3 and the entire season 4, so I have been annoying the hell out of my wife by taping the episodes every morning on my way out thye door to work. This morning was the first half of season 5 premier. I just finished watching the finally of season 4 and can't wait to see the last season playout again. Check you local listings at www.tvguide.com

Here is an example of political correctness run amok. Remember, this is from a show that has been canceled and has been airing in syndication, not only on TNT, but on local stations across the United States, for how long, at all hours of the day.
Anyway:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A love scene from the canceled TV show "Angel" that showed a female character turning into a vampire and biting her partner's neck did not overstep federal indecency rules, the Federal Communications Commission ruled Friday.
It was one of two scenes from a November 2003 episode of "Angel" that were not "sufficiently graphic or explicit to render the program patently offensive" by contemporary standards, the FCC said in denying an indecency complaint from the Parents Television Council.
"Angel," which was canceled by the WB last year after five seasons, starred David Boreanaz in the title role of an 18th-century vampire who tried to atone for past evil deeds in present day Los Angeles.
One scene involved Angel in an intimate moment with a female character in which Angel's hips are seen "moving back and forth," the Parents Television Council said in its complaint.
In the scene depicting the female vampire biting the neck of her partner, also a vampire, both characters had clothes on and "their breathing is heavy," the complaint said.

The episode aired at 9 p.m. EST on November 19, 2003. The indecency law bars nonsatellite radio and noncable television stations from airing between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. indecent material such as references to sexual and excretory functions. Those are the hours when children are more likely to be watching TV.

But not all sexual and excretory references or scenes are considered indecent. The FCC must consider context and its decisions are subjective interpretations of the law.

The FCC said the "Angel" scenes were not patently offensive "as defined by commission precedent" and therefore were not indecent.

The complaint was officially filed against WBDC-TV in Washington, though the program aired on WB stations across the country. The FCC asks that indecency complaints include the call letters of a television or radio station.

OMG!
They HAD THEIR CLOTHES ON, their hips were moving and they were breathing heavy. Oh, the horrors!
Somewhere, Elvis is spinning in his grave and Ed Sullivan is laughing in his.
Who knew one quick flash of Janet's nipple (which was covered by a pasty by the way) could have us this far down this slippery slope so fast?

/\ Stupid ****ing FCC....or actually they were smart in this case, whoever made the complaint just had his panties in a wad.

So the FCC will investigate petty complaints like that, but they won't do jack for having a Viagra/Cialis ad on in EVERY commercial break ALL hours of the day!!! I know this, I checked. Their response to me was more or less 'sorry. we can't or won't do squat against ads!'

....an exception to my hate for those ads is the Enzyte ads tho....they're funny as hell, and vague enough that you don't have to have 'the talk' with junior before you HAVE to! :D

Spike spin off news:

Question: I think a Spike TV-movie would be great! — Teri.

Ausiello: So, apparently, does James Marsters. In his first interview since I pitched WB president David Janollari the idea of doing a Spike telepic, the 42-year-old actor told my colleague, Ben Katner, that he's game for resurrecting his soulful Buffyverse counterpart "as long as I could do it within, say, the next four or five years; past that, I'm too old. Spike's a vampire, man, and I've got high standards — you have to believe that the guy has not aged since we met him. There's a little poetic license, but I don't want to get into a situation where the script says, 'Well, he was drinking pig blood and he aged,' you know? [Whatever Joss Whedon wrote] would be funnier than that — it would be delightful — but it would be taking away the coolest thing about a vampire, which is that he's iconic... he does not change." OK, Mr. Janollari — the ball is in your court.

Interesting news:
This Saturday on the USA Network, James Marsters stars on Cool Money

Bobby Comfort (James Marsters, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel") first became a thief at the tender age of six, and after bouncing in and out of prison for years, he finds a legal loophole and secures his release years before the end of his latest sentence. However, before he can settle into a quiet life at home with his wife and daughter, Bobby is approached by Sammy (John Cassini, "10.5," "Get Carter"), a bizarre thug with a flamboyant taste in clothes... and a daring plan that lures Bobby back into doing what he has always done: steal things. Together, the men take New York City by storm, pulling off a string of hotel heists that humiliates the police and eventually culminates in the largest jewel heist in American history.

Also starring Robin Brûlé ("Three to Tango," "Nora Roberts' Sanctuary"), Jason Schombing ("Stargate SG-1," "The Unauthorized Story of Three's Company"), Larry Manetti ("Magnum P.I."), and Margot Kidder ("Superman," "The Amityville Horror").

Gary Burns ("Way Downtown") directs a script written by Shelley Evans ("Sins of Silence," "Footsteps"). Stanley M. Brooks/Once Upon a Time Films, John Fasano ("Darkness Falls," "Stone Cold"), and Nicholas D. Tabarrok ("The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico") serve as Executive Producers. Aaron Barnett ("Hollywood Flies") serves as Producer, and Joel S. Rice as Executive Consultant. A USA Network Original Movie.

This is awesome!

Looks like we might be seeing a familiar bloodsucker back on the frog soon.

Both Joss Whedon and James Marsters, creator and co-star of "Angel", respectively, have long expressed an interest in bringing bottle-blonde vampire Spike back to screens in a telemovie - and by the sounds of it, it's going to [finally] happen.

Whedon announced at Wizard World over the weekend that he's very keen to do an "Angel" spin-off - with the character of 'Spike' the chap he'll most likely be concentrating on - and it got a great reception from those in attendance.

Ausiello over at TV Guide talked to both WB entertainment president David Janollari, and Whedon, who sounded keener than a Olympian around water to dive straight into it.

"I have given it more thought since you brought it up. It's certainly something that I continue to get many fan letters and e-mails about, and it's something that we discuss a lot around here. But no decision has been made", the WB head-honcho tells the reporter.

Whedon seemed optimistic. "I'm really for it, but I have never really spoken to David Janollari," he said. "I occasionally would bring it up with [execs at 20th Century] Fox, and they'd be like, 'Yeah, that would be cool.' And I'm like, 'Who do we need to talk to?' And then nothing has really happened. I've been really busy in post [-production] on Serenity and haven't been able to get the wheels turning, but I definitely intend to investigate it."

Whedon says he doesn't necessarily need to write or direct the "Spike" telemovie, so the WB can pretty much getting go on it as soon as they want. "[Spike] is not necessarily something that I would write and direct myself," he suggested. "I have a lot of brilliant friends who worked with me for many years who might be able to take the helm — somebody who both James [Marsters] and I would trust."

Whedon says his idea for the "Spike" telemovie isn't a prequel. "For me, Spike is a very contemporary guy," he said. "It's sort of what distinguished him from Angel."

Hmmm a year ago yesterday marked the airing of the last 4 episodes of Angel. In 20 days (the 19th, same day that Star Wars Episode 3 comes out) it will be the one year anniversary of the end of Angel. Sad. And still no word on a replacement series or movie specials. hell I would settle for Amy Acker as a guest star in a episode of Smallville to statisfy my Angel fix. Yo Klimber - it's not quite the same, but Amy Acker had a recurring role in this season of Justice League Unlimited as an ass-kicking Huntress. And Juliet Landau (MMMM...Dru!) was in a few in some minor roles I think.

I read @ eonline.com that Alyson Hannigan stated that a Spike movie is in development, and it is possible it would be straight-to-dvd. Reporter than asked FOX about any truth, and they stated that nothing is developing right now.

I never watched Angel after the first season, but I was a die-hard Buffy fan from day one, and as such of course I was a huge Spike fan. So when he went over to Angel I started watching, and was thoroughly excited and impressed by what they did with him and just the whole of season five in general, and then poof! It's cancelled. It's just criminal.

Fred was pretty hot. And cute. I'd take her over Cordelia any day.

Aww. I absolutely adored Fred..until Illyria took over. Not that Illyriia didn't kick complete ass - especially when she was beating Spike hahahaha. It's just not normal that someone like that would fit into a Fred-looking package. ;)

As for a Spike movie, I"d watch it and drown in my own drool. God, Marsters is so freakin' hot!!
